Congenital iris lesion.

چکیده
A student teacher of Turkish-Cypriot origin, whilst in Great Britain on a British Council visit, inquired whether anything could be done to alleviate an eye condition which had troubled him since birth. He had previously been told that nothing could be done for it. He complained of poor vision in both eyes since birth, the left being worse than the right. He had had glasses prescribed but they were no longer of any assistance to him. There was no family history of any eye trouble, nor were his parents consanguinous He was born of a normal, full-term pregnancy.

Congenital adenoma of the iris and ciliary body: light and electron microscopic observations.
A 23-year-old man had a lesion in the right inferior iris which appeared to have enlarged since it was first seen when the patient was aged 5 years. The lesion was excised by a partial iridocyclectomy. Histopathologically the neoplasm was composed of both pigmented and non-pigmented cells. Pseudoacini, containing acid mucopolysaccharides, were present throughout the tumour matrix. Electron micr...

Rapidly involuting congenital hemangioma (RICH) is an uncommon vascular tumor that, unlike infantile hemangioma, is largely developed at birth and undergoes rapid postnatal involution. To date, RICH has often been described in the setting of an isolated lesion, whereas infantile hemangioma is a well-known feature of numerous syndromes and associations, including the association of posterior fos...

متن کاملOrbital dermo-lipoma with Goldenhar's syndrome and exophthalmos.
A dermo-lipoma is a congenital lesion (Reese, I963). There is no indication that epibulbar dermoids are hereditary in man (Francois, 196I; Waardenburg, Franceschetti, and Klein, I96I). Goldenhar (I952) and Duke-Elder (I964) have pointed out that dermoids and dermo-lipomata often accompany other congenital abnormalities, including auricular appendages, fistula auris congenita, coloboma of the ir...
متن کاملCataract extraction in a case of congenital coloboma of the iris.
THIS case of cataract in a woman with bilateral congenital colobomata of the iris, and its extraction, is presented because of its rarity as a surgical event. The incidence of coloboma of the iris and retina is variously given by different workers. Clarke and his colleagues found twelve cases of typical colobomata of the iris in a series of 500 ocular abnormalities (Clarke, Bancroft, Allen, Wan...
